Have you ever had the challenge of not being able to capture in a photo/video what you see through your eyes? You can never find the same angle or perspective through a phone camera... If you have the same struggle, look no further, I might have just the perfect product for you.
Introducing the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses - I've been using it for about 6 months now and am loving it!
Model: Wayfarer
Colour: Shiny black, transparent lens with blue filter (no prescription)
Product Features:
Ultra-wide 12 MP camera to record 60s videos and photos from your POV
Up to 30 mins of live-streaming on Instagram or Facebook (disclaimer: I haven’t tried this function myself)
Battery life is pretty good - details below* but as a headphone alone it is much much better than my Samsung Gear IconX earbuds that I really need to replace now…
Storage memory up to 32GB
Very lightweight, similar to a normal pair of glasses (< 50g in weight)
Bluetooth headphones with amazing open-ear audio quality that is unlikely to bother anyone around you unless you are in a busy library. Touch and swipe controls on the glasses arm.
AI voice features not available in the UK - but if AI/GPT-integration is a core functionality for you, then you are probably better off with another pair of smart glasses like Solos AirGo
* As advertised, 4 hours with a single charge and up to 32 hours with a fully charged case. I tested this - the battery in the glasses was still at 70-80% after an hour of intermittently recording videos whilst playing audio, and drained in about 2-3 hours - depending on usage. But the case battery literally never dies - I only use the glasses occasionally but I don’t need to recharge the case for months!
All photos or videos are imported via the Meta View app, you can save it to your phone's camera roll or share them directly on social media (Instragram, Facebook, WhatsApp, or via AirDrop to your specific destination). I don't really use the social media/ AI functions of the glasses so can't comment on those but the photo/video quality is great!
What I like:
Great photo quality and internal memory
Audio quality - open ear headphones still amaze me!
The trendy glasses case which doubles up as a charger
Easy to connect to your phone and the Meta View app
A classic Ray-Ban style and not heavy at all!
What can be improved:
Direct media import to your phone instead of via an app
I think we would all want videos of more than 60s - it is not very user friendly to have to keep hitting the record button every minute
I had so much fun playing around with the glasses, see some of them below! (Note: the videos have been compressed when uploading and all original captures are in 4K)
1. POV: having a great time at the Imperial Winter Party!
2. POV: Christmas baking (the original videos have been edited)
