Printer Review: Epson WF-100

Here is a review of my Epson WF-100 which I've been using for a year now - and still loving it. In short, the WF-100 is a great printer if you are looking for:

• A basic lightweight, portable, wireless inkjet printer; or

• An economical colour printer that prints with pigment ink (fade and water resistant)

What I use my WF-100 for: mostly for printing water-resistant stickers or digital artwork, I seldom use it for document printing - laser printers are much more cost- and time-efficient for B/W documents.

Overall comment: the Epson WF-100 is a basic colour printer. Prior to switching to Epson, I've been using my HP Photosmart Plus B210 which was gifted by a friend. For me, the WF-100 was a great size and price for a pigment ink printer - I bought mine from Fortress at $1,888.

Lightweight and compact, very portable and require minimal space to store/operate	Basic A4 printing functions only with a 3-tone colour adjustment (standard, +/-1). No scanning or other fancy settings
Prints with pigment ink, meaning the colours are water resistant. Great for sticker printing!	Colour inks are not as vibrant as photo printers, if I'm printing images sometimes I will have to double print to get the exact colour I wanted
Replacement inks are of good value: 2 ink cartridges only, Black (#289) and Colour (#290) - on a lucky day I would get two for HK$120 Last long enough for occasional printing (over the last 12 months, I print ~once a week and finished 2 colour cartridges, 1.5 black cartridge, and still on my first maintenance box)	Not every printer shop sells the Epson 289/290 ink cartridges - and it's even harder to find its maintenance box (T2950). So make sure you keep your own back stock
Can run on its own built-in battery (I wouldn't expect it to last for too long though, it will however be more than enough for a trip to an offsite meeting)
